The Delmar Man Black Double Breasted Leather Coat is designed for men who command the room. Single-breasted coats can sometimes feel casual or unfinished. This double-breasted architecture adds immediate width to the torso and a formality that works perfectly over a business suit or formal evening wear.
1. The “Wind-Block” Overlap
We utilized a classic **6-on-2 Button Stance**. This creates a wide overlap of leather across your chest and stomach. Functionally, this doubles the insulation over your vital organs, making it significantly warmer than our standard Men’s Leather Jackets. It is a fortress against the cold.
2. Wide “Ulster” Lapels
Standard coats use thin, modern lapels. We retained the **Wide Notch Lapel** (Ulster style) to balance the visual weight of the coat. These lapels are reinforced with internal canvas to stay crisp and flat. They broaden the visual line of the shoulders, enhancing the V-shape silhouette.
3. Vertical Drape Integrity

This is a Handcrafted Garment. We cut this pattern for you. To ensure the perfect fit:
- The Belly Constraint: Double-breasted coats are unforgiving. If your belly measurement is larger than your chest, you MUST size up, or the buttons will pull and create an “X” crease.
- Coat Length: This design hits at or below the knee. Check the length chart in our Size Guide to ensure it doesn’t drag.
Maintenance Tip: Hang on a wide, wooden hanger to support the heavy shoulders. Do not fold long coats for extended periods. Clean with a damp cloth. Read our Fit Engineering Guide.

The Blueprint:
Engineered for authority. The Naval Commander Edition takes the structural discipline of a naval pea coat and extends it into a full-length overcoat. We constructed the chassis from Rigid-Grade Cowhide, selected to hold the sharp vertical lines of the coat without sagging. The front creates a “Thermal Shield” by overlapping two layers of leather across the torso, locking out gale-force winds.
